Wild Boar

Surviving the Clan world depends on sustaining clan health. Wild boar is a much sought after source of food, but they are difficult to catch and vicious up close on account of those lethal teeth. www.egghedz.com/clan

Golden Eagle

Any bird attack is dangerous, but with a wing span of 2 metres and huge talons, flocks of starving eagles are absolutely lethal. Once engaged in battle with kings of the sky, you are quite literally fighting to the death. See more at www.egghedz.com/clan

A Peep Under the Bonnet

A couple of peeps under the bonnet. The first image is a screenshot of the Unity Editor in action.
The second image details a very efficient way of grounding vegetation by modelling the shadow as part of the plant - known as a shadow card (thanks Yoggy!).
The sequence shows a colour map made in Photoshop, its black and white
alpha channel, the 3D model with textures applied showing how the alpha channel cuts out unnecessary geometry and the final effect on a terrain in Unity.

More Real Time Shots

These tests are rendered in game and deal with adding non terrain elements into the mix to explore coherence, scale, real time shadows and path making. The first image, 'Highlands 6' is beginning to approach an acceptable look and feel. With these screenshots, large scale terrain testing is almost at an end. We will shortly be exploring other ways of creating the feel of huge open spaces to compare which offers best performance.

Education Education Education

Lately time has been spent learning different software packages for different tasks. Cheetah 3D for assets, InDesign for design documents, and of course Unity for game creation. The images show samples of UV mapping in Cheetah 3D and the end result in Unity's game engine. Cheetah supports objects with two UV maps so one can be used for lightmapping, which is the main reason for investing in it as a companion to our main 3D application, Cinema 4D.
The design document will outline the necessary stories and assets in every detail and serve as a reference for the whole project.

Real Time Screenshot

This image is a screenshot rendered by the game engine. We're testing a few things such as vegetation, skies and buildings to see what impact they have on frame rates. The house is a medieval smithy from dexsoft-games and fits perfectly into our vision, because despite the game being set in the future, global industrialisation no longer exists. It therefore follows that without the infrastructure, bricks, steel girders and concrete are no longer readily available. Most new buildings will therefore be made with recycled or local materials and in the highlands that means stone and wood. This would likely result in a few of them looking distinctly medieval. City Villains

CITY VILLAINS: Patrolling the streets in gangs, these good for nothing excuses for human beings will take anything you carry by any means necessary. If you're wandering the city alone, carry a weapon, or better still, don't wander the streets alone.
The Edinburgh level will be a lot of fun to create. There are so many possibilities it could be a whole game in itself...hmmm.
